When opening a new tank, how should potassium chloride be added? (Potassium chloride zinc plating brightener)

When using potassium chloride as the galvanizing brightener to open a new tank, how should the potassium chloride be added? Generally speaking, it can be done in four steps.

1) Dissolve the calculated amount of potassium chloride in either heated or unheated tap water. Heating makes the dissolution process faster, while not heating can save energy. The potassium chloride content in the newly prepared plating solution can be calculated as 230g/L. Filter the dissolved potassium chloride solution through a filter and pour it into the plating tank. Keep stirring during the dissolution process.

2) Potassium chloride can be selected as the quenched grade, or the refined electroplating special grade. Agricultural-grade potassium chloride should not be used as it contains many impurities and has a lot of sediment when dissolved, especially the agricultural-grade potassium chloride with a reddish color.

3) What if it's impossible to purchase good potassium chloride at present? As a manufacturer of potassium chloride zinc plating brightener, Bigely suggests the following methods for processing when preparing the plating solution:

Dissolve potassium chloride in hot water at 80°C or above. The concentration can be calculated as 300g/L. Stir to ensure complete dissolution. Then, remove the surface foam. Slowly add 3% (mass fraction) hydrogen peroxide to 1mL/L and stir for about 10 minutes. Adjust the pH value to 7.0 - 7.5 using 5% (mass fraction) sodium hydroxide solution. Then add 2g/L activated carbon and stir for 1 hour. It is best to heat it to above 70°C. This can accelerate the precipitation and remove the hydrogen peroxide. After standing for 2 hours, filter and discard the bottom sludge.

4) After preparing the electrolyte solution in this way, it should be tested and analyzed to determine the actual content of potassium chloride. If this solution is not heated, after the basic basic mixture of the electrolyte solution is prepared, do not add the potassium chloride brightening agent immediately. Instead, perform an electrolysis treatment first to remove the hydrogen peroxide.
