The function of sodium hydroxide
In the plating solution, sodium hydroxide mainly acts as a complexing agent for zinc, and it also enhances conductivity and promotes the uniform dissolution of the anode.
The concentration of sodium hydroxide in the plating solution has a significant impact on the deposition rate of zinc and the quality of the coating. If the concentration is insufficient, zinc hydroxide precipitation and anode passivation will occur; while if the concentration is too high, the self-dissolution of the zinc anode will accelerate.
The effect of Bigely alkaline zinc-nickel alloy additive
The model number of this additive is BZ-617. It is divided into six doses, each playing an important role. Why is this so? Take the BZ-617A dose as an example. Because nickel ions will form nickel hydroxide precipitate in alkaline solutions. To prevent the formation of the precipitate, BZ-617A dose must be added to the plating solution. Moreover, it can increase the solubility of nickel in the solution and provide sufficient nickel ion concentration.
