When discussing the factors that affect the stability of electroless nickel plating solutions, many electroplaters tend to focus on the quality of the chemicals. However, they fail to realize that improper operation methods can also cause the plating solution to undergo natural decomposition. In this issue's article, we will explore this topic.

The influence of the operation process method

① Local overheating

If the electroplating nickel solution is heated directly by an electric furnace or steam, it will cause local overheating of the solution (with the temperature exceeding 96℃), and when the pH value is too high, it is very likely to cause the solution to naturally decompose. Therefore, when electroplating plants use Bigely electroless nickel solution, we recommend using a hot water heating device with an external heating switch, or an immersed stainless steel heating machine, or a heating machine with a Teflon coating.

② Plating bath load

If the load of the plating solution is too high or too low, especially when the load is too low, it has a significant impact on the stability of the bath solution. Because at this time, the deposition rate is too high, the obtained coating is relatively loose. Nickel crystalline particles may fall off from the coating and enter the plating solution, forming self-catalytic reduction centers, which prompts the solution to spontaneously decompose.
