Why does the coating become rough when using the electroless nickel plating solution? It might be because insoluble substances are suspended in the plating solution.
Where do the insoluble substances in the plating solution come from? Based on our experience, there are two channels:
① Introduction of poor water quality
When using water with high hardness (especially the groundwater extracted), the calcium and magnesium impurities in the water tend to form scale (especially on the surface of the heater) when heated, turning into solid impurities. If the groundwater also contains silt and sand, the situation will be even worse. The electrolyte solution prepared with such water will result in a very rough coating. If conditions permit, it is recommended to use pure water for preparation.
② The powder coating on the hook has peeled off
The areas on the hanging rack hooks that have been plated but have not undergone insulation treatment should not remain uncleaned. If they are not cleaned in time, after repeated use, a thick and loose coating will form. This coating will fall off onto the workpiece during plating, and the coating in the corresponding area will become rough. This kind of situation also occurs from time to time in poorly managed electroplating factories.

To facilitate the nickel removal process, the fixture materials should be made of stainless steel or coated with insulating material.
