The high-temperature nickel additive is used in the process of electroplating amino sulfonic acid nickel as the base layer and then plating pure tin. This additive enables the workpiece to pass the high-temperature reflow test without any color change on the surface of the coating. So, in the process of using this high-temperature nickel additive, how should the components of the plating solution be managed?
1. Nickel sulfamate. It mainly serves as a source of nickel ions. Its concentration should be maintained within the process range. During production, nickel ions should be replenished by adding nickel sulfamate to compensate for the loss.
2. Nickel Chloride. It can enhance the conductivity of the plating solution, improve the uniformity of the coating, and accelerate the anode dissolution. During the production process, the concentration should be analyzed regularly and maintained within the specified range.
3. Boric acid. Boric acid acts as a buffer, preventing significant fluctuations in pH during electroplating and reducing the occurrence of excessive current burning. During production, the concentration of boric acid needs to be frequently analyzed and maintained within an appropriate range.
4. High-temperature nickel additive Ni-3000. Ni-3000 is an easy-to-use and titratable additive that can significantly reduce internal stress in the coating, enhance weldability, resist high temperatures, have high nickel plating efficiency, and result in a coating with excellent weldability and appearance.
5. Nickel wetting agent Ni-382. Ni-382 can reduce the surface tension of the plating solution and prevent the formation of pinholes. The operating concentration is generally controlled within 1.0 to 2.0 ml/L.
6. Temperature. The temperature of the plating solution should be maintained between 50 and 60 degrees Celsius. If it exceeds 60 degrees, significant evaporation loss will occur in the plating solution, and the sulfamic acid will hydrolyze into sulfate ions, causing the coating to become brittle.
