How to remove the defective chemical nickel coating (nickel remover)

When poor nickel plating layers occur in the chemical nickel plating process, what kind of nickel removal agent should be selected for treatment?

The removal of poor-quality chemical nickel coatings is much more difficult than that of electroplated nickel coatings, especially for high-erosion-resistant chemical nickel coatings. Once an inferior chemical nickel coating is identified, it should be removed immediately before heat treatment; otherwise, it will be even more challenging to remove it after the coating has undergone passivation.

The removal of the chemical nickel coating can be achieved through methods such as mechanical cutting, electrolytic stripping, and non-electrolytic stripping. In most cases, the removal of the chemical nickel coating is carried out by immersing it in the stripping solution (prepared with nickel-removing agents). When choosing the stripping solution and stripping agent, great care must be taken.

Firstly, the nickel-removing agent must not cause corrosion to the base metal. Secondly, factors such as the thickness of the coating, the rate of nickel removal, environmental protection, and the cost of nickel removal need to be comprehensively considered.
