In the production process of continuous bright tin plating additives, to achieve good coating quality, it is necessary to ensure that the concentrations of all components in the plating solution and the ratios between them are within the most suitable range. However, during actual operation, it is found that there are always some interfering factors, such as inorganic impurities and organic impurities. These impurities will affect the balance state of the solution components. So, how can we control these impurities properly?
Control of impurities
1）When the metal impurities (such as copper ions) in the plating solution gradually increase, the plating layer will become darker and the porosity will increase. To solve this problem, the electroplating factory can remove them through the low-current electrolysis method.
2) The decomposition products of organic impurities and continuous bright tin plating additives can cause an increase in the viscosity of the plating solution, resulting in rough and brittle crystallization of the coating, as well as the appearance of streaks and pinholes. These can be removed by using activated carbon. During the treatment process, the plating solution should be heated to around 40°C and thoroughly stirred. After complete standing, it should be filtered. The treated plating solution needs to be replenished with adjusted components and additives.
To reduce the impact of decomposition products on the plating solution, the electroplating factory can use Bigely continuous bright tin plating additive Sn-839. One of its advantages is that it produces fewer decomposition products, which can extend the processing cycle of the solution.
3) For various solid mechanical impurities and tin sludge, the problem can be solved by performing continuous filtration and replacing the filter element regularly.
