After using the electrolytic degreasing powder, we noticed that there was no coating deposition on the sharp and protruding areas. Why is that?

After using an electrolytic degreasing powder, if the coating fails to deposit properly on the tips, sharp corners, or protruding areas of the workpiece, there are two main underlying causes.

Excessive current during cathodic electro-degreasing

During cathodic electrolytic degreasing, if the current is too high, organic impurities in the degreasing solution—primarily oil residues—are highly likely to deposit on the tips of the workpieces (areas of high current density). If, during anodic electrolytic degreasing (there are two methods of electrolytic degreasing using powder), sufficient degreasing time is not ensured, these organic impurities will be difficult to remove completely, resulting in the defects mentioned at the beginning during electroplating. 

The degreasing solution is too dirty

When a large amount of oil and impurities float on the surface of the degreasing bath, contaminants will adhere directly to the workpieces as they are removed from the bath. If the workpieces are rinsed with cold water immediately after degreasing, the oil will adhere firmly to the surface due to the temperature shock, making it difficult to remove during subsequent processes and ultimately preventing the plating from depositing properly.
