In the production process of using acidic zinc plating brightener, sometimes the surface of the workpiece coating may appear foggy and floral. What is the reason for this?

Bigely Technology has conducted an analysis based on on-site experience and product characteristics, mainly for the following 7 reasons:

1.Poor pre-treatment of the workpiece. Untreated oil stains on the surface of the workpiece can cause fogging of the galvanized layer, and pre-treatment should be strengthened.

2. Improper operation of plating solution. If the temperature or pH value of the plating solution is too high, causing fogging of the coating, the temperature or pH value of the plating solution should be adjusted to within the process range.

3.Too many coated workpieces or insufficient anode area. Excessive loading beyond the working range of the plating solution resulted in fogging of the galvanized layer on the workpiece. Workpieces should be reduced or anode plates should be added.

4.The zinc chloride content in the acid zinc plating solution is too low. The low content of zinc chloride reduces the dispersion and depth ability of the plating solution, resulting in fogging of the galvanized layer. The plating solution should be analyzed and zinc chloride added to the process range.

5.Insufficient brightener in the plating solution. An appropriate amount of acidic zinc plating brightener needs to be added to the process range.

6.There are many copper and lead impurities in the plating solution. There are many impurities in copper and lead, and the coating in the low current area of the workpiece will appear black mist. The plating solution can be treated with zinc powder and filtered to remove impurities.

7.There are many organic impurities in the plating solution. 1-3 g/L of activated carbon should be added for treatment, and after stirring for 30 minutes, the plating solution should be filtered to remove organic impurities.

So, in the production process of using acidic zinc plating brightener, we should pay attention to the above 7 points, which can effectively avoid the phenomenon of fogging and flower formation in the galvanized layer of the workpiece.
