What causes plastic deformation when electroplating plants use electroless nickel plating solutions? Understanding these causes enables the implementation of appropriate maintenance measures during routine operations to prevent plating defects. The hooks on the electroplating fixture are too springy.

Plastics are characterized by their lightweight nature. During the electroplating process, relying solely on the workpiece's own weight cannot guarantee the quality of the plated product and may even result in the coating failing to deposit (due to non-conductivity).

Therefore, when designing electroplating fixtures, workpieces can only be clamped in place (relying on the elasticity of the hooks). If the hooks' elasticity is too strong, there is a high probability that plastic deformation will occur.

To address this issue, we need to properly design the fixture and process parameters.

The fulcrum of the hook is misaligned

When using electroless nickel plating solutions, the pivot points of the hooks must be symmetrically positioned while maintaining equal tension. If tension imbalance occurs in the fixture, the plastic may deform due to heat during processes like degreasing (at high temperatures). This deformation will become permanent upon cooling.

Therefore, when designing and fabricating fixtures, avoid subjecting the workpiece to excessive stress in any single direction. Increasing the contact surface area at the support points can help reduce the stress concentration at these points.
