When using alkaline zinc plating additives, is it sufficient to simply follow the instructions in the manual to solve all problems? Actually, that's not the case. Many operational details are known only to experienced electroplaters. In this article, we will share some of these insights.
Pretreatment
Compared with cyanide plating solution, the degreasing ability of the plating solution is a little weaker. Therefore, even for alkaline plating solution, the pre-treatment cannot be considered as a simple task. For the dip plating solution, the workpiece needs to undergo electro-degreasing. However, please note that if the chelating agent of the pre-treatment solution is introduced into the plating solution, it will be difficult to remove the metal impurities in the plating solution.
Liquid temperature
When the temperature exceeds 35℃, the brightness generally decreases and the consumption of the lightening agent increases. Therefore, when using the alkaline zinc plating additive of Bigely, appropriate cooling equipment should be provided. Cold water circulation cooling can be carried out using steel, titanium plated tubes or Teflon tubes.
Filtration
The impurities mixed into the zinc sulfate galvanizing solution, such as iron, etc., are suspended in the solution in the form of hydroxides. Therefore, they need to be filtered out frequently. The used filtering aids should be resistant to alkalinity.
