Pyrophosphate copper plating solution is an alkaline copper plating solution with potassium pyrophosphate as the main component. Its main advantages are that the plating solution is non-toxic, stable, and has good uniformity. The coating has fine crystallization, excellent leveling property, good brightness, and high cathode current efficiency. Its drawback is that the upper limit of the current density range is relatively small, the deposition rate is slow, and it cannot be directly used for electroplating steel parts.
However, it can be applied to processes such as PCB through-hole metallization and zinc alloy electroplating. Copper plating with pyrophosphate is not only suitable for the perforation metallization of single-sided boards, but also for the perforation metallization of multi-layer boards. This is because qualified pyrophosphate coatings can still be produced at a high thickth-to-pore ratio (8:1).
