When doing the Hull bath test, why does the test piece plating always fail to correctly reflect the bright performance of the hard chrome additive? The reason may be that the heating and cooling are not done properly. Understanding the importance of heating and cooling will help us to make fewer mistakes and quickly judge the performance of additives.
For ordinary Hull bath, if the temperature is high at the time of test, we can take a little more plating solution with a beaker on the electric furnace for heating, until it is higher than the test temperature of 5~7℃ (because the cathode and anode plates have to absorb part of the heat) when pouring 250mL of plating solution in the Hull bath, test it immediately, and it can be maintained in the working range within 3~5min.
If the temperature is low, the liquid temperature should be added enough in the thermostatic water bath first, and the Hull bath should be placed in the water bath to keep warm. When plating with hard chrome additives, the liquid temperature has a great influence on the bright range of the plated layer, and the test temperature should be ensured to be accurate, the anode should be put into the tank first, and the plating solution heated to about 3℃ higher than the test temperature should be poured into the tank and a thermometer should be put into the tank, and when the liquid temperature is reduced to the test temperature, put in the test piece prepared in advance immediately and plated for 1min.
