A customer inquired about the poor leveling effect of the plating solution during the production process using nickel plating brighteners. How can we operate to ensure that the plating solution has good leveling performance?

Based on on-site experience and the characteristics of the nickel plating brightener Ni-301, Bigley Technology has analyzed the following four operations to effectively improve the leveling performance of the plating solution:

1. Control the concentration of each main salt in the plating solution within the process range. When the concentration of nickel sulfate in the plating solution is low, the cathode current efficiency is low, and the allowable upper limit of working current density is small; When the concentration of nickel chloride is low, it directly affects the conductivity and coverage ability of the plating solution. Therefore, we should regularly analyze and adjust the concentration of each main salt in the plating solution within the process range during the production process.

2. Control all operating parameters within the normal range. In the plating solution using nickel plating brightener Ni-301, the control of operating parameters is very important. Improper control of operating parameters such as low pH value, low temperature, or low current density can lead to poor leveling effect of the plating solution. Therefore, we should strictly control the operating parameters within the normal range during the production process.

3. Control the concentration of softener Ni-301A within the process range. Softener Ni-301A can improve the leveling performance of the plating solution, as well as improve the brightness and coverage performance in the low current region. Therefore, we should regularly use Hull cell experiments during the production process to determine the concentration of softener Ni-301A within the process range, in order to avoid the phenomenon of poor leveling effect and brightness of the coating due to the low concentration of softener.

4. Regularly purify the plating solution. When there are many organic or metal impurities in the bright nickel plating solution, the leveling effect of the nickel coating will be poor, and there will be brittle, pinhole, peeling and other fault phenomena. Therefore, we should regularly purify the plating solution during the production process to reduce the impact of impurities.

Therefore, we should pay attention to the above four operating methods in the production process of using electroplating nickel brightener, which can effectively maintain good leveling performance of the plating solution and reduce the occurrence of faults.
