Many customers have reported that during the production process using nickel plating additives, the nickel coating on the workpiece is always prone to rust, which affects the performance and service life of the workpiece. So what measures can we take to solve the problem of coating being prone to rusting?

Based on on-site experience and the characteristics of the nickel plating additive Ni-301 in the product, Bigley Technology has conducted an analysis. Generally, the following small tricks can be used to solve the problem of easy rusting of the coating during production:

1. The plating solution is relatively dirty, and iron impurities deposit on the nickel layer during the nickel plating process, causing the nickel layer to rust easily. It is recommended to regularly treat the iron impurities in the plating solution or use iron removers, such as Bigley's Ni-391, to remove the iron impurities in the nickel plating solution and avoid the phenomenon of easy rust in the nickel plating layer of the workpiece.

2. The workpiece can be plated with double-layer nickel plating process. If the workpiece originally had only one layer of bright nickel, a semi bright nickel coating can be added in the middle, greatly improving the corrosion resistance of the coating and effectively avoiding the phenomenon of easy rusting of the nickel coating.

3. Use nickel plating additives with good corrosion resistance. Many nickel plating additives on the market have poor corrosion resistance, resulting in larger pores in the nickel plating layer of workpieces, which is easy to rust. Therefore, we should choose nickel plating additives with good corrosion resistance, such as this Ni-301, which has high concentration, low impurities, few decomposition products during the production process, high stability of the plating solution, uniform and dense nickel plating layer on the workpiece, and high corrosion resistance. This way, the workpiece is less prone to rusting.

4. The workpiece after nickel plating can be sealed. After the workpiece is nickel plated, a dense film can be formed on the surface of the coating using a sealing agent to isolate air and prevent oxidation of the nickel coating. This not only does not affect the appearance, conductivity, and weldability of the workpiece, but also effectively improves the corrosion resistance of the coating, thereby solving the problem of easy rusting of the nickel coating.

So, in the production process of using nickel plating additives, we can effectively improve the quality of the workpiece coating and solve the problem of easy rusting of the nickel plating layer, reducing the occurrence of faults through these small tricks.
