During the process of using bright nickel plating additives, we sometimes find that the leveling effect of the plating solution is relatively poor. What is the reason for this?

Based on on-site experience and the characteristics of Ni-301, a bright nickel plating additive, Bigley Technology has analyzed the following four main points:

1. The concentration of the main salt in the plating solution is insufficient. When the concentration of Nickel(II) sulfate in the bath is low, the cathode current efficiency is low, and the upper limit of allowable working current density is small; The low concentration of Nickel(II) chloride will directly affect the conductivity and coverage of the bath. Therefore, during the production process, the main salt concentration in the plating solution should be analyzed in a timely manner and controlled within the process range.

2. Improper operating parameters. In the plating solution using nickel plating additive Ni-301, the control of operating parameters is very important. If certain parameters are not properly controlled, such as low pH value, low temperature, or low current density, it can lead to poor leveling effect of the plating solution. Therefore, these process parameters should be strictly controlled during the production process.

3. The concentration of softener in the plating solution is relatively low. Ni-301A is a softening agent that can improve the leveling performance of the plating solution, as well as improve the brightness and coverage performance in low current areas. When the concentration of Ni-301A softener is insufficient, the leveling effect of the coating will deteriorate, and the brightness of the low area will decrease, which affects the control of the softener concentration within the process range during the production process.

4. The influence of organic impurities in the plating solution. When the plating solution is affected by organic impurities, the leveling effect of the coating is poor, and it can lead to embrittlement, pinholes, peeling, and other phenomena of the coating. During the production process, activated carbon should be regularly used to treat the plating solution to reduce the impact of organic impurities.

Therefore, when using the bright nickel plating additive Ni-301, the leveling effect of the plating solution is poor, we should pay attention to the above four points and take timely measures to effectively improve the leveling effect of the plating solution.
